2016 Conservation & Restoration Report
Our annual conservation & restoration report offers a comprehensive review of our 2016 acquisitions and restoration projects, in addition to projects currently underway in 2017.
Each year, our dedicated staff of conservationists and land managers pack an incredible volume of work into twelve months. 2016 was our biggest year yet, with more than 3,500 acres permanently conserved, and sites across our service area restored and revitalized through our stewardship efforts.
We invite you, our supporters, to browse for 2016 Conservation and Restoration Report an in-depth look at how we’re protecting the nature of the northwest across our region’s varied landscapes. Highlights include the conservation of 540 acres of sandhill crane habitat, the protection of 2,400 acres of working forestland at Klickitat Canyon, and the reconnection of Columbia County’s Kerry Island to the historic floodplain of Westport Slough, just to name a few.
The report also details the 2017 restoration efforts already underway at our properties, in addition to the lands we’re working to conserve by year’s end. We hope you enjoy reading about and seeing photos from the very places you’re helping to protect as a lasting legacy for future generations. We’re already seeing returns on last year’s efforts, and we look forward to delivering more conservation success in the months ahead.
