We are excited to open registration for our second round of 2023 Wild Splendor tour offerings, taking place this November in Vancouver!
Back by popular demand, we invite you to join us for a chance to observe migratory sandhill cranes at Frenchman’s Bar Regional Park in Vancouver, Washington. With their bright red heads, long slender legs, and distinctive bugle calls, viewing sandhill cranes is an unforgettable experience, and at this unique Land Trust site which we farm to benefit the cranes, you can see them in impressive numbers! Join us for an hour of storytelling and birdwatching, plus a Q&A with our Stewardship team.
All tours at this location will start at 7:30am to maximize crane visibility. To join, please register using the links below for the date of your preference:
- Tuesday, November 7th, 2023 (Registration is full for this date)
- Thursday, November 9th, 2023 (Registration is full for this date)
- Saturday, November 11th, 2023 (Registration is full for this date)

What to expect: This is a one-hour, outdoor experience where most guests will be standing, with a minimal amount of walking. You are welcome to bring a folding chair for comfort and are encouraged to bring binoculars. We will host our viewing on a lawn area adjacent to a covered patio where we can take cover if there is heavy rain. Make sure to dress warmly in anticipation of chilly weather!
Frenchman’s Bar Regional Park is ADA accessible, has restrooms, and ample parking which will be free for Land Trust guests during our visit.
Stay tuned for our additional Wild Splendor tours coming later this year! Chum salmon viewings will take place in December and we plan to open registration in late October. Tour dates and registration information will be announced via email.
Please email events@columbialandtrust.org with any questions, and to let us know if you become unable to attend a tour for which you are registered.
Thank you to our 2023 Wild Splendor sponsors!
